RURI / 18+
Safety Center
Practical guidance for adults meeting someone new, online or in person.
Adults only
Ruri is for people aged 18 and over. Report a profile if you suspect the person is under 18.
Fake profiles and romance scams
Be cautious about rushed declarations of love, inconsistent stories, stolen-looking photos or excuses to avoid a call. Verification is not a safety guarantee.
Keep money out of dating
Never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency or account access to a match. Treat emergency payments, investment offers and requests to receive or forward money as warning signs.
Protect your account
Do not share passwords or sign-in codes. Protect the email or Google account you use to sign in. Open Ruri through its official app and avoid unfamiliar login links.
Suspicious messages and harassment
Do not open unexpected links or files. You do not owe anyone photos, money or continued conversation. Stop contact, report and block pressure, threats or harassment.
Share personal information slowly
Keep your address, workplace, identity documents, payment details and live location private. Avoid sending intimate images or anything that could be used to pressure you.
Meet on your terms
Choose a busy public place, tell someone you trust your plans and arrange your own transport. Stay in control of your drinks and leave whenever you feel uncomfortable.
Get help
Use Report or Block in the app. For account or safety help, email ruri.datingapp@gmail.com without passwords or payment details. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Ruri support is not an emergency service.
